How To Make A Pattern From A Pre-made Bear

Watch the Video Here: How to Make a Pattern from a Pre-Made Teddy Bear

My customer had a heartfelt request for me to carefully recreate a beloved bear that held a special place in her heart for her cherished grandchildren. To fulfill this meaningful task, I diligently hunted down the original bear and, after locating it, gently took it apart to examine its details. Here are the specific steps I followed to skillfully make the bear once again.

MJ's Beautiful Mink Coat Transformed into a Throw & Teddy Bear

The customer wanted to make a throw and a teddy bear from her mink coat. The coat had both sheared and unsheared fur. The unsheared fur was used in both the bear and the throw's border. The total measurement for this throw was 43 by 47 and the bear is 12 inches tall. Bear Pattern used: Funky Friends Factory ~ Melody Memory Bear Lots of cute animal patterns there. Brooke's Beautiful Mink Coat Transformed into a Memory Bear & Throw

Watch Brooke's Fur Transformation here!

Brooke's Lovely Mink Coat Transformed into a Throw & Teddy Bear It was such an honor to make this beautiful Mink Throw & Teddy Bear. The completed throw measures 48 inches wide by 50 inches long. The customer chose to keep her lining, as well as her monogram. With the remaining mink scraps Brooke opted to make a Memory Teddy Bear. We used the button from the coat and made the bear’s nose. The lining was also used on the paw pads and inner ears.

Memory Bear made from three  T-Shirts

Customer wanted all the words that were printed on the gray shirt to be part of the bear.  The other two shirts where black and dark blue. I forgot to take the before photos (ugh).

It was a challenge as bear is Tiny.

The shirt read:

“World’s Greatest Farter Father”

The How: I used Pellon 911FF to stabilize the T-Shirt material.  I used Wonder Under on the gray shirt.

I carefully cut out the all the letters except World’s.   I wanted to keep that whole.   I ironed the letters to the pattern pieces. Used monofilament to tack the letters onto the bear as well.  The customer wanted the FARTER as the focal point.  Due to the size of the bear, that was almost impossible.  I had to separate the word.

Here is how I divided it up.

World’s- Tie

Greatest – Two letter on each arm and leg to spell out greatest.

Farter FART on the back &  ER on the front

Father -   Belly/Butt area

It was a fun project.

Memory T-Shirt Quilt & 2 Teddy Bears

My customer wanted a T-Shirt Quilt and two Teddy Bears made from their father’s clothing. See the video here: T-Shirt Quilt & 2 Teddy Bears Two panels include his college fraternity! They wanted a simple design, not too big, and they did not want me to hide the stains on the shirts. “That was just Dad”. Two Teddies where also made from the left-over shirts. One has this inscription:

Colton,

I may have never Held you in my arms

But I will always love you.

Love, Grandpa Mark.
