Cowboy Baby Quilt
Cowboy Quilt

While one of my customers was browsing the internet for a baby gift, she saw this quilt pattern. She contacted be about making her one. I purchased the pattern from Nursery Magic Quilts. The original design was square. My customer wanted a larger more rectangular quilt. The finished quilt measures. 50 by 68. The top and bottom border are quilted with cowboy hats, stars, boots and horse shoes. The side border is embroidered with running horses. I added a thought bubble to the center block. He is dreaming about ridding a horse. Custom lettering for the name in the inner border. Close-ups of the quilt can be seen in the video below. Enjoy!

Memory Pillow

Memory Pillow made with the Grandfather’s shirt. Such a lovely gift. I have made this pillow once before in pink. Added the heart and used the pocket to store it!

My New to Me Antique Singer 99K Sewing Machine

I have always wanted a hand crank machine. Saw this old Singer that didn't have the knee control. I decided instead of getting a knee control I would remove the motor and add a new hand wheel and hand crank. I also refinished the Bentwood Box. I love how it all came out. Now on nice days / or days without power I can sew outdoors. Enjoy the process.

Star Wars Theme Memorial Quilt

Today I just finished a Memorial T-Shirt Quilt.  The quilt will be gifted to the father of the deceased young man.  Theme: Star Wars.  The prominent colors of the shirts were red and black, so I used that color scheme for the borders.

It went from a pile like this to this!

To This!  This is a big quilt!  Measures 87 by 107!!

First I cut out each shirt larger than the block size.  I used Pellon Feather Weight Fusible Interfacing 911FF to the back of each shirt. I cut the pellon larger that the shirt size too.  This way all of the t-shirt is stabilized.  If you skip this step you will have lots of puckers if you do an overall quilt pattern on top or freehand work.  I put the interfacing on in sections.  I love my stream press for this.

I photograph each piece and "lay" them out in my EQ8 program.  Great program because not only can you preview your quilt, but you can change the size, color & layout  of your quilt.  When you are done you can print out the quilt and templates if you like.  Sure beats moving 30 pieces around the bed!

The Power of Hand-Washing to Prevent Coronavirus

The Power of Hand-Washing to Prevent Coronavirus

Hand washing has never been more important in saving lives. The CDC recommends that you wash your hands:

Before, during, and after food prep / Before eating / Before and after tending to someone who’s sick /Before and after treating a cut or other wound / After going to the bathroom / After changing diapers or helping a child in the bathroom / After blowing your nose,  coughing or sneezing / After touching an animal, or touching pet food or pet waste / After handling pet food or pet treats /After touching garbage

When washing your hands make sure you use enough soap to cover every part of your hand. Sing Happy Birthday or The ABC song. (about 20 to 30 seconds should do). .

.For more information: Go to https://www.cdc.gov/handwashing/index.html

Easter and Passover are almost here. Bring a little sunshine to someone you love during this crazy time. Send them some beautiful soap products! Great for an Easter Basket. Ship to anywhere in the USA.

Harry Potter Bookcase Quilt

Just finished this quilt in time for Christmas!! The original design was supposed to be a wall quilt. Slowly it grew into a lap quilt. The designs of this quit are a combination of a quilt along by Fandom in stitches, Bored Zobie and several of my own designs. The original projected started here: http://www.fandominstitches.com/2015/07/harry-potter-bookcase-quilt-along.html. That project grew and Susan Owenby of the http://theboredzombie.com/project/harry-potter-bookcase-project-of-doom-index-of-posts took it to another level. Her generosity in the use of her embroidery designs is outstanding. This was so much fun to create!!
